The Chikmagalur District Working Journalists Association members submitting a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Channappagowda on Friday condemning the incident of Shimoga Police serving notice to Prajavani reporter and Associate Editor.

They submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa through the Deputy Commissioner Channappagowda. Association President H S Puttaswami said that the government has brought disgrace to the entire journalism field.

“The notice should be withdrawn immediately and action should be taken against the police official, who served it,” he urged.

“Instances of attack on mediapersons are increasing day by day. At the same time, efforts are being made to tackle the freedom of press too. The Government should intervene immediately to ensure freedom of press and to protect media persons,” he added.
