All colleges affiliated to the Bangalore University and offering MBA course have been directed to conduct admissions based on Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) results, from this academic year.
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has directed the colleges across the country to make admissions based on this common entrance test.
The first CMAT was conducted in September 2012 and the second in February 2013. Since the State government had requested for an extra window for the exam — to ensure that more number of students take the exam — the AICTE permitted the government to conduct another CMAT in May.
Each candidate can appear for two CMAT attempts. Best of the two CMAT scores will be taken into count for admissions.
The admissions will be facilitated by Karnataka Examination Authority for 50 per cent of the total approved seats (government quota).
Seats will be allotted based on the rank of the candidate in the exam. Furthermore , every institution will follow the same rank list to fill up the institution’s share of seats for the remaining 50 per cent.
