They also staged a protest by setting ablaze tyres on the national highway and blocked the road and vent their ire.

The farmers were in for a rude shock on Sunday when the cocoons which was sold between Rs 150 and Rs 200 per kilo every day suddenly nosedived to Rs seven on Sunday .

They stressed the officers to fix a suitable price for their yield. As the officers expressed their helplessness, the angry farmers staged a rasta roko on the national highway and even set tyres of fire.

They also slept on the road and refused to allow vehicular traffic.
Dy SP Mahadevaiah visited the spot immediately with Circle inspector Ravinaik with the police force and and tried to pacify the crowd arranging a talk between the farmers and dealers.

They also summoned the senior officials to the spot and urged them to fix suitable price for the cocoons and pacified the farmers to withdraw the stir.
