Bengaluru: The Government of India has invoked the stringent Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities (COFEPOSA) Act against Kannada actress Harshavardini Ranya alias Ranya Rao. An order to this effect was issued by Anupam Prakash, Joint Secretary, Central Economic Intelligence Bureau, Department of Revenue, on April 22.
The invocation of the Act is aimed at preventing Ranya from smuggling goods, engaging in transporting, concealing and keeping smuggling goods in future.
