Colourful kites to dot Mysuru skies todayMysuru

As a prelude to the Dasara celebrations, a two-day Dasara kite festival will commence on Saturday at 4 pm on Lalitha Mahal Helipad grounds, in the city.

This weekend, colourful kites and lights will dot the Mysuru skies. The kite festival is the first event of Dasara-2018 and is expected to receive a good response as professional kite fliers from parts of the country will showcase their skills.

It is a joint initiative of the district administration and Tourism department. Students from schools and colleges are expected to participate in the festival.

Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar in a press conference, said that Kitefliers from across the country will demonstrate their skills by flying a variety of kites. Teams from Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, Hyderabad and Mangaluru will participate in the festival. A kite, which had entered the Limca Book of Records, will feature in the festival. A team from Mangaluru will fly 25 varieties of kites. A kite measuring 36-foot wide and 10-foot tall will be one of the attractions, he said.
