ComedK counselling: Students hope to get preferred seats in second round

A number of students who attended the first round ComedK counselling on Thursday, expressed hope of getting seats in their prefered colleges for undergraduate medical and dental courses in the second round of counselling.

Karishma Abraham George, who secured a rank of 942 was allotted a seat at JJM Medical College, Davangere.

“I will definitely participate in the second round of counseling and will be hoping to get a seat in the Father Mulleur Medical College, Mangalore,” said Karishma, who hails from Kollam in Kerala.

Although she has written other entrance exams such as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), she has her hopes pinned only on the ComedK.

Satyam Mittal from Uttar Pradesh accompanied his brother, Shubham Mittal for the day’s counselling.

Shubham was allotted a seat at the Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences for his rank of 956.

“Last year there were many who secured the same rank as my brother and they managed got into colleges like KIMS, MS Ramaiah Medical College and BR Ambedkar College. My brother will definitely apply for the next round in the hope of getting these colleges,” said Satyam Mittal.

While many students are looking forward for the second round of counselling, others like Davish Gupta, from Rajasthan, is inconvenienced, as he is aiming for a seat through the AIMPT.

“The counseling for AIPMT starts by July 8 and I have to be back here to surrender my seats and get my original documents,” said Gupta.

Meanwhile, the counselling for the day took place for ranks between one to 2,250, however only 912 candidates attended the counseling session.

All the 492 general merit (GM) medical seats were picked up in the 12 medical colleges.

As many as 93 seats under Hyderabad-Karnataka region category, 76 seats for Karnataka Christian Minority and 35 seats for Tulu Minority Category were left at the end of the first day.

So far as far as the seats in dental sciences are concerned, 27 seats in GM category were taken, leaving 580 unallocated. In addition, 115 seats under Hyderabad-Karnataka region quota, 20 seats under Tulu Minority and 20 Seats under Telugu Minority seats were also left unallocated.

Counselling for those ranked between 2,251 to 4,500 is scheduled for today (July4).
