'Compensation for arecanut growers after survey'

Speaking at a discussion organised at Arecanut Research Centre, he said “we can take the woes of the farmers only after we get the statistics. The extent of the area affected by yellow leaf disease is not known.”
“Rs 3 crore grant has been released for the research. The survey will be conducted between July and December to get complete picture of the disease.”
MLAs, MP, various party leaders, farmers representatives should take a delegation to the Centre and ascertain pressure on the government to provide compensation, he added.
Instead of temporary relief, permanent solution is the need of the hour.
Bagalkote Horticulture University Special Officer Dr S B Dandin said every farmer should co-operate for the survey by filling a form with 18 points.
The forms will be available at Horticulture department and Krishi Samparka Kendra. The form must be filed and submitted by July 15. Later, a report will be submitted to the government.
