Speaking on the occasion, he said Dakshina Kannada district has 7,916 km road in rural areas. A sum of Rs 13.16 crore has been released to fill the potholes of 2,653 km road. He also directed the officials to complete Mani-Sampaje road by March. The finance department has okayed the proposal to release Rs 875 crore to develop rural roads in the State. The funds will be equally distributed among all the 224 Assembly constituencies in the State.
“Politics will not come in the way of development of roads in the State,” he said. About 20 km road would be developed in every Assembly constituency in Dakshina Kannada. Accordinly, 139 km road would be developed at the cost of Rs 45.45 crore.
He said Mini Vidhan Soudha is being constructed at the cost of Rs nine crore in Puttur. The State government has already released Rs 3.5 crore. Of which, work worth Rs 2.8 crore has been completed. In the second phase, the Government will release Rs 5.5 crore, he promised.
The State government is ready to bear the loss incurred by the arecanut growers and compensation will be paid to the growers.
Land Reforms Act
The State Government would amend the Karnataka Land Revenue Act to give title deeds to people who had built houses on government land, except on the forest land, and DC manna land. Gowda said that he had got several requests for title deeds for houses built on government land.
A sum of Rs 678.77 lakh has been released to develop 23.33 km road in Puttur taluk and Rs 688.08 lakh for developing 20.87 km road.
