Bengaluru, : In a heartwarming tale of success against the odds, a marshal working with a waste management unit in Bengaluru and a conductor with Bengaluru Metro Transport Corporation (BMTC) are among those who have cleared the Karnataka State Eligibility Test (KSET), passing which entitles one to teach at government degree colleges.
Having recently announced the results of the examination, the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Saturday verified the documents, following which certificates were distributed to those who had cleared the test.
K B Aravind, a marshal with the waste management unit, and Jayamma A, a BMTC conductor, were among those who received the certificates on Saturday.
While Aravind hails from Huliyurdurga in Tumakuru district, Jayamma is a native of Bengaluru. They are now eligible to be appointed as assistant professors at state-run first-grade colleges.
“Having completed a postgraduate course in Kannada, I started preparing for KSET, while working. It has always been my dream to become a college professor,” said Aravind.
Meanwhile, Jayamma hailed the foolproof and transparent manner in which KEA conducted the examination. Incidentally, Jayamma had passed a test that the KEA had conducted to become a conductor. "I hope I am soon appointed as an assistant professor," she said.
