Speaking with the reporters in the backdrop of bundh, he lashed out at the government for misusing the government missionaries in the name of bundh. “The bundh called by the ruling party is not ‘voluntary’ one, but it is forceful one, where the public have been compelled to stay away from their daily activities,” he said.

Quoting few instances of the police personnel asking shop keepers in the city to shut down the shops fearing the wake of hostility, he said that the police department has been badly misused by the government during Saturday’s bundh. He criticised BJP Minority Commission Chairman Anwar Manippadi for taking part in bundh, despite him holding a constitutional post. Ivan called Manippadi’s act as ‘unconstitutional’.

Favouring the Governor’s decision of permitting for CM’s prosecution, Ivan said, the Governor has taken a right direction. “There is no fault in the decision taken by the Governor. Earlier, when Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha and Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav faced the similar situation, the Supreme Court held the right of the respective Governors to permit for prosecution against the head of the State if the charges made are valid,” he stated.

He urged the CM to resign from the post immediately and follow the legal recourse to face the charges. “If the CM continues to be in power, then it proves that the government is favouring corruption,” he said.
