A section of the Congress legislators has written to state Congress president G Parameshwara, stating that the party should consider taking action against MLC V S Ugrappa and others for bungling over the issue of removal of Council Chairman D H Shankaramurthy.

A letter signed by 12 legislators including K N Rajanna, S T Somashekar, Munirathna Naidu and Shivamurthy Naik, states that the party and the state government had to face severe embarrassment as the plan to remove Shankaramurthy backfired. The signatories have blamed Ugrappa and “others” for moving a resolution to remove Shankaramurthy without finalising a strategy and proper consultation.

Parameshwara told reporters in Bengaluru that the issue will be discussed by the party at  its internal meetings.

Resentment expressed
“Some legislators have expressed their resentment over the setback to the Congresss. Nothing can be done now. We will discuss how such faults can be avoided in the future,” he said.

He said the party high command had accepted the state unit’s suggestion that organisational elections be held after the Assembly elections next year.
