Congress is likely to recommend the names of Nivedith Alva, former union minister Margaret Alva’s son, and realtor U B Venkatesh for nomination to the Legislative Council.
Of the three vacant posts to be filled through nominations, the Congress will get two and JD(S) one.
The Congress has sent the list of its names to Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, while the JD(S) is yet to finalise its name.
Once the JD(S) finalises its candidate, the chief minister will send the three names to the Governor for nomination as MLCs.
Nivedith Alva, who is currently the party’s spokesperson, is also a television producer and had served as the chairman of the Karnataka Coastal Development Authority (KCDA).
Venkatesh, a real estate developer, had served as managing director of the Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Limited.
