The government has asked some of its key ministers, including Home Minister P Chidambaram, to be present.

The governor’s report, which was also marked to Singh and Chidambaram, has reached them. Senior ministers including Law Minister M Veerappa Moily, Defence Minister A K Antony and Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad have already rushed to the national capital.
Welcoming the governor’s decision, Congress general secretary Madhusudan Mistry said, “In view of the Supreme Court judgment this government must go.”

Meanwhile, a stunned BJP central leadership held an emergency meeting Sunday evening and vowed to fight  “politically and legally” the recommendation of the governor.  The  meeting was attended among others by party  veteran L K Advani, Leaders of Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha — Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.

The party’s legal luminaries including Arun Jaitley and Soli Sorabjee were in touch with the State leadership including Yeddyurappa.

Sorabjee described the governor’s move unconstitutional saying Yeddyurappa should be allowed to prove majority on the floor of the House. Jaitley attacked the governor’s report as “unconstitutional” saying it was an “extraordinary recommendation” because the BJP had a majority of 121 MLAs in the 224-member House.
