The Congress would organise a   walk for harmony in Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district on December 12 to spread the message of communal harmony, state Forests Minister and  district-in-charge Ramanath Rai has said.

The rally would be held with the participation of people belonging to like-minded organisations, he told reporters here. He accused the  Sangh Parivar outfits and SDPI of being  'responsible' for the communal disturbances in the district.

He claimed efforts had been going on in the last few years to disturb peace and harmony in the district for narrow political gains, which had created an atmosphere of fear in the district. The walk for harmony was meant to ease the situation and to ensure that permanent peace prevailed in the  district, the Minister added.
