Belagavi: MP Jagadish Shettar said that the state government has been engrossed in corruption. Earlier statement by Congress MLA B R Patil regarding corruption in allocation of houses under Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation and now by NWKRTC Chairman and MLA Bharamgouda (Raju) Kage has exposed corruption in the Congress.
Shettar told reporters here on Monday that MLA B R Patil has exposed the corruption and statement by Kage that funds were not released for developmental works shows that the state government has gone bankrupt. Since Congress government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah came to power, no new developmental works were taken up in the state and those seen in progress were sanctioned and funds allocated during the tenure of previous BJP government.
Assembly constituencies represented by Congress MLAs itself were not being released funds for development. Congress MLAs were expressing their dissatisfaction for funds not being released for development. Congress government has been spending Rs 50,000 crore for guarantees, but no funds have been released for Upper Krishna Project. Implementation of guarantees has been considered as licenses for corruption by Congress, he stated.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar should accept moral responsibility and resign as its Congress MLAs who are taking about corruption in the government. Infighting has been going in the Congress and we do not know when it would blast which result in the collapse of government, Shettar said.
BJP high command will take a decision on Congress MLAs coming to BJP. We if make efforts to take the dissatisfied MLAs into our fold, Congress leaders will cry ‘Operation Lotus’. Many of the Congress MLAs during private talks express their administration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and pro-people programmes implemented by centre, he said.
