The party has rebels in four constituencies - Dharwad, Bijapur, Dakshina Kannada and Gulbarga. KPCC president R V Deshpande, on Wednesday, said that he was in touch with the rebel candidates. He said the party would take disciplinary action against those who did not abide by the party’s decision.

Replying to a question, he said the KPCC was willing to field V S Ugrappa from Tumkur constituency and the party high-command had also favoured his candidature. But he decided not to contest the elections citing personal reasons.  Deshpande said the party decided against fielding candidates in Mandya and Hassan as per the understanding with the JD(S).
