Bengaluru: A delegation of Congress MLCs on Thursday petitioned Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot seeking action against Leader of the Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and Opposition Chief Whip N Ravikumar for their controversial statements.

The Congress delegation, led by floor leader N S Boseraju, asked Gehlot to get Narayanaswamy step down.

The delegation also asked him to take suo motu cognisance of the "derogatory and communal" remarks made by Ravikumar and initiate disciplinary proceedings against him. Boseraju said a similar petition would be submitted to Legislative Council chairperson Basavaraj Horatti.
