Anthropological Survey of India, Mysore President Prof P K Misra has said that there was a need to conserve art and culture of tribal community. They are the asset of the country.
Speaking at International Museum Day organised by the Anthropological Survey of India, Mysore and Budakattu Krishikara Sangha here on Sunday, he said that several problems have cropped up with the world marching towards progress.
However, the citizens have failed to find a solution to the problems. “Tribals should find solution to their problems on their own.
They should share their joy and sorrow and should be civilised.”
District Backward classes development officer Lakshman J Ganti said that there was a need to bring tribals to the mainstream of the society. The government has chalked out several programmes for the same. The tribals are given nutritious food in the month of June.
Proposal submitted
A proposal has been submitted to the government seeking permission to distribute caste certificate to Betta Kuruba community members. Anthropological Survey of India Deputy Director Dr C R Satyanarayana said that culture and tradition of tribals are unique. The community should strive to conserve their tradition.
He called upon the tribals to educate their children.
Budakattu Krishikara Sangha president J P Raju said that tribals are facing myriad problems and Forest Rights Act should be implemented effectively. Dr B R Vijendra welcomed the gathering. Tribals exhibited artifacts prepared by them and presented cultural programme on the occasion.
