By conspiring to take over the functioning of mutts and temples, the government is hatching a conspiracy to insult Hindu society, VHP Karnataka Prantya working president Prof M B Puranik said.
Briefing reporters here on Thursday, he said that the VHP opposes any move to control mutts and temples.
The government had planned to withdraw cases against minority community members but has now turned its eyes towards mutts and temples, he said.
"If there are any illegalities by the administrative committee formed by the Muzrai department, let them initiate action. However, it is not right to interfere in the affairs of the temples and mutts," he said.
He alleged that the state government is engaged in vote bank politics.
