The High Court on Friday ordered notice to the Principal Secretary, Primary and Secondary Education department, the Commissioner and Director of Department of Public Instructions in a contempt petition filed by Karnataka State Private School Managements Federation.

The complainant had approached the court stating that the Education department is deliberately not considering the applications submitted by schools, under the federation, seeking permission to impart education with English as a medium of instruction from Class I to VII. The complainant has sought directions from the court to initiate proceedings of contempt of court against the Education department for wilful disobedience of court order dated December 2, 2014.

The court had directed the petitioners/complainants to re-submit the applications seeking permission for Class I to VII in English medium and directed the Education department to accept and process the applications. However, the applications are not processed yet. A division bench comprising Justices N Kumar and G Narendra ordered notice and adjourned the hearing.
