Couple in love elope; boy's uncle thrashed

A joint search operation was launched by the Assam Rifles and Nagaland Police after the incident was reported. During the searches, the forces intercepted the militants in a forest near Wetting village.

Haveri: A gram panchayat member was stripped half-naked and thrashed after his nephew eloped with his girl friend in Mudenuru village of Haveri taluk. A complaint has been lodged at Halageri police station in this regard.

A boy from Mudenuru and a girl of Chalageri were in love with each other. Since their elders did not approve of it, they eloped. On Monday night, 12 men from the girl's side barged into the boy's house, created a ruckus and thrashed his uncle.
