CPI(ML), JD(S) stage protest against oil price hike

 Both the parties took out a procession from old Taluk Office premises and later burnt the effigies of state and central Government at Hanumanthappa circle, demanding slashing of oil price.

CPI(ML) members handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner after taking out a procession from Mahathma Gandhi road. They said that Public Distribution System should not be handed over to private companies, reduction in bus fare, prioritising food crops while providing support price, providing rice at Rs 3 per kg as mentioned in the central budget, distribution of all necessary commodities through fare price shops were some of the demands kept forth by them in the memorandum.

On the other hand, Janatha Dal youth wing demanded for waiver of loans of the farmers and growers and release of additional funds for Kadur-Chikmagalur railway line.
