A crew of a foreign vessel suffering from a painful abdominal pain was evacuated and is now recovering in a private hospital in Mangaluru on Thursday.

The ship, MV Broog, was sailing from Ras Laffan, Qatar to Futussu, Japan with LNG as its cargo. At about 300 nautical miles from Mangaluru coast, M V Broog’s Captain Wilfreo A Sales sent an email to Coastguard Headquarters in Panambur requesting medical repatriation of an able seaman (AS) who was suffering from a painful inflamed appendix.

Sources in GAC Shipping (India) Private Limited, local agent for foreign ship from Japan, said on Thursday that Coast Guards, New Mangalore Port Trust’s Deputy conservator, Traffic Manager, Harbour Master, Customs and Immigration department swung into act and succeeded in the swift evacuation of Regoita Arwen A (a Filipino national).
