Of late, cycle hits headlines often, for every Monday being the day to pedal to office for the district officers, thanks to the district administration for calling to adopt green friendly mode of transportation.
The cultural programmes organised as part of 66th Independence Day celebrations at Chamundi Vihar stadium too was not bereft of cycles.
A group of 650 students of St Anne’s School, N R Mohalla in the city presented a dance drama on ‘Nammee Thaynelavu’ ( Our motherland), pedalling cycles at the end of the show making it an apt character for the year.
Students clad in blue, red, green and orange coloured t-shirts on cycles with handles decorated with tapes in tricolour, were the cynosure of all the eyes.
They also formed a human pyramid, but without bicycles thus stealing the show. The portraits of Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh and Rajguru were displayed.
While 300 students of Paramahamsa Vidyalaya presented ‘Bharathambe Ninna Janmadina’ (Mother India it’s your birthday), 550 students of Annayyappa Bhyraveshwara School, Hebbal danced for ‘Nada Geethe’, besides performing Veeragase.
A total of 300 students from Chinmaya Vidyalaya performed Yogasana starting from Sooryanamaskar to different asanas, thus spreading the message of better health.
