Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police arrested a burglar involved in several theft cases.
The arrested has been identified as Suraj K (36), from Uppala, Kasaragod district, Kerala, who had carried out daytime burglaries without leaving any clues.
According to the police, on December 20, a case was registered at Puttur Rural Police Station regarding a theft at a house in Bhaktakodi, Puttur, where gold jewellery was stolen by breaking open the door.
Similar theft cases were reported across the district, under the direction of SP Yathish N, after which a joint investigation team from Puttur Rural, Vittal, and Kadaba police stations was formed to track down the accused.
The police seized 200 gm of gold jewellery valued at Rs 18 lakh and a car worth Rs 3 lakh from the accused, used for committing the offence.
According to the investigation, Suraj was involved in seven cases reported in Puttur, Kadaba, Vittal, and Bantwal police station limits.
The district police authorities have announced special rewards for the investigation team for their efforts in successfully apprehending the suspect.
