The meeting had been convened in the Vidhana Soudha to discuss the issues concerning dalits and their problems. Nine organisations had been invited.
Samata Sainik Dal State President M Venkataswamy objected to only a few organisations being invited. The chief minister said there was difficulty in inviting representatives of all the organisations. Hence, he had decided to speak to only a few representatives. On hearing this, leaders of the organisations walked out, boycotting the meeting.
