In a shocking Taliban-like incident, a 38-year-old woman was beaten with sticks by a group of men right in front of Jamia Masjid in Davanagere, Karnataka.

Davanagere: Police have arrested six persons on charges of assaulting a Muslim woman outside a Jamia Masjid mosque over an alleged extra-marital affair at Tavarekere village in Channagiri taluk.
According to the police, the arrested are Mohammad Nayaz (32), Mohammad Ghouse Peer (45), Chand Basha (35), Inayat Ullah (51), Dastageer (24), and Rasool TR(42). They were running small shops at Tavarekere village.
These people assaulted Shabeena Banu, spouse of Jameel Ahmed, for her alleged extra-marital affair.
It is said that Shabeena Banu(38) had been to a small hill with her children and her friend Nasreen on April 7 and returned home the same day. She took tablets as per the directions of a doctor and slept.
Meanwhile, her friend Nasreen, who told her that she would go home, for some reason stayed back. Later, a man named Fzayaz, a relative of Nasreen, arrived at the residence of Shabeena Banu.
When Jameel came to his house and saw Nasreen and Fayaz, he suspected that his wife had an extra-marital affair.
Later, he complained to the religious leader at the mosque. Shabeena Banu and her friend Nasreen and the latter's relative Fayaz were taken to the mosque in Tavarekere village on April 9.
Banu was beaten by some men with sticks, and a video of the horrific incident went viral on April 11.
Based on the complaint filed by the complainant, Shabeena Banu, police arrested them. The accused were arrested for committing the inhumane act.
The investigation is still ongoing.
