Davangere: Davangere University Microbiology Professor Gayatri Devaraj, who was arrested by the CBI in the NAAC committee bribery case in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur, has been suspended from service.
A special syndicate meeting of Davangere University held on Thursday discussed the matter and decided to suspend Gayatri for a period of six months.
"Professor Gayatri Devaraj has been suspended as per the KCSR rules. A copy of the order will be sent to the Governor and the government," said university Vice-Chancellor B D Kumbar.
Gayatri, who is also a member of the NAAC investigation committee, was recently questioned and arrested by CBI officials on charges of accepting bribes.
They also visited and inspected her residence in Davangere city. She had also served as the university’s registrar earlier.
