Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Annies Kanmani Joy has asked the leaders of various political parties to follow the election model code of conduct as per the directions issued by the Election Commission of India.

Chairing a meeting of political party leaders at the DC’s office hall in Madikeri on Tuesday, she said that the political parties should adhere to the instructions issued by the ECI without fail.

Displaying banners and posters in public places is strictly prohibited.

Prior permission should be obtained from the concerning authority for mounting the posters and banners.

Prior permission should also be obtained before printing leaflets, posters and other publicity material.

Superintendent of Police Dr Suman D Pennekar, Additional Deputy Commissioner T Yogesh and political leaders Sajil Krishna and Tennira Maina were present.
