Deputy Commissioner Charulata Somal listened to the woes of the public at Srimangala Agriculture Credit Cooperative Society hall on Saturday.
The ‘Jilladikari Nade Halliya Kade’ programme was held on Saturday. The deputy commissioner had arrived in Srimangala on Friday night and visited various places in Srimangala.
She visited a colony in Kurchi and inspected the facilities. Later, she visited an anganwadi centre and a PHC.
At the PHC, she spoke to a couple from North India and availed information on the treatments available at the PHC. She also collected information on the Aadhaar card, ration card, children’s education and facilities available for children at the anganwadi centre.
Advocate M T Cariappa said that Srimangala has no crematorium. The lack of a burial ground is affecting the people.
A site near the PHC can be utilised for the burial ground, he said.
Charulata also visited the SC/ST post-matric hostel for boys and collected information on the supply of food, hot water and other facilities. When the issue of shortage of water was brought to her notice, she directed officials to sink a borewell.
The deputy commissioner also visited a primary school in Srimangala.
GP member Macchamada Sumantha said that low voltage has affected the residents in Srimangala. There is a need to improve the quality of electricity supplied.
Reacting to it, assistant engineer Neelashetty said that the power station will be upgraded shortly.
Ex-servicemen demanded sanctioning of land for the association building.
Grower Motaiah said that the farmers have not received compensation for the loss of crops.
