Bengaluru: Ramanagar police on Saturday said that they have ruled out the rape angle in the death of the 15-year-old differently-abled girl from the Hakki Pikki community whose semi-naked body was found on the railway tracks near Bidadi on May 12.
R Srinivas Gowda, Superintendent of Police (SP), Ramanagar, told DH that they received the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report on Saturday, and it confirmed that there was neither attempt to rape nor rape on the girl.
Numerous unverified reports and YouTube videos claimed that there were cigarette butt marks and bite marks found on the body of the girl.
Gowda dismissed all the claims and said, “No such marks were found on the body, and the FSL report has also confirmed this.”
According to other police sources, the FSL team had collected as many as 32 different samples from the deceased body and ran the tests. The report has confirmed no signs of rape or bite marks.
Gowda said that even after clarification, if anyone attempts to spread fake news and false information regarding the case, they will be held accountable and a case will be filed against them.
Gowda spoke to the media in Bidadi on Saturday evening and said that they will take appropriate action against those who spread fake news earlier.
Further, he said that they are still investigating the case to identify the cause of death, but preliminary investigations suggest that the death was due to a train accident.
Gowda said that more than 10 people have been interrogated, keeping the murder angle in mind, but no such evidence has been found. He said that there were several bruises on the girl's body and deep bruises on her back.
Now, the investigators are awaiting a postmortem report to ascertain the cause of death.
The victim, who was speech and hearing impaired, was found dead on the railway tracks near Bhadrapur village in Bidadi. She was studying in class 8 in a residential school in Bengaluru. She had visited her hometown for holidays.
