The first additional district and sessions court in Madikeri has ordered death sentence for three culprits who had murdered two people while attempting robbery.
H S Shivakumar, T E Shivakumar and Kumar from Mallenahalli village near Kushalnagar, Somvarpet, are the culprits.
On February 11, 2016, the trio hatched a plan to rob the valuables from the house belonging to Kocchunni in the village.
During the night, the culprits strangulated Kocchunni to death and later asked Kocchunni’s grandson Amritanand to reveal the place where valuables are kept. When Amritanand refused to do so, the culprits murdered him as well. They later concealed the bodies with areca leaves and hid them in a gutter.
Pronouncing the judgement, the first additional district and sessions court Judge D Pavanesh said it has been proved that the culprits carried out the murder and that they have tried to destroy the evidence.
