Bengaluru: In the wake of reports that bodies were found in forest areas surrounding Dharmasthala, Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre said, "Action will be taken against forest officers if it is established that bodies were transported and buried illegally in the notified forest area."

He was speaking to reporters on the sidelines an event organised by the Karnataka Madhyama Academy in Bidar.

"Investigation is ongoing. In case the report shows that bodies were buried inside notified forest area, disciplinary action will be taken against forest officers and personnel for their negligence," Khandre added.
