Mangaluru: Dharmasthala police have arrested six persons for obstructing police from discharging duty during a clash between two groups near Pangal Cross in Dharmasthala, on August 6.

According to DK SP Dr Arun K, the arrested are identified as Padmaprasad (32), resident of Dharmasthala, Suhas (22), resident of Dharmasthala, Khalandar Puttumonu (42), resident of Ujire, Chetan (21), resident of Kalenja, Shashidhar (30), resident of Dharmasthala and Guruprasad (19), resident of Kalmanka.

Following the incident, the Dharmasthala Police registered a case.


The arrested persons were produced before the jurisdictional court on August 9, which in turn granted them interim bail.


When the clash broke out between the two groups, police resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd. Some YouTubers, cameramen and a reporter of a private Kannada channel were attacked during the clash.
