Mangaluru: The digging to trace human remains resumed at a new location near Kanyady on Thursday morning in the alleged Dharmasthala mass burials case. The site was shown to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the complainant witness who had filed a complaint in Beltangady court in the matter.
The new site located close on the bank of Netravathy river is accessible by passing through a privately owned areca farm and is about one kilometer from Ujire-Dharmasthala stretch. This new site is located opposite to the bathing ghats along Netravathy river. The complainant witness along with members of SIT reached the new location at around 12 pm.
Puttur Division Assistant Commissioner Stella Varghese, SIT Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Dayama, forensic experts and labourers had also reached the new location. Earthmovers were also shifted to the new location. The complainant witness has so far shown 17 locations and human remains were found only at two locations. On Thursday, the 16th day of exhumation process, media persons were prevented from reaching the new site.
