Bengaluru: Members of the Special Investigation Team constituted to probe the alleged mass killings in Dharmasthala have left for the temple town to commence their work.

While DGP (Internal Security Division) Pronab Mohanty heads the SIT, the team headed to Dharmasthala is led by DIG (Recruitment) M N Anucheth.

SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama has been appointed as the Investigation Officer. SIT personnel serving in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Chikmagalur districts are expected to reach Belthangady either this evening or tomorrow morning. The SIT has opened its office at Belthangady, and the amenities required for the office are being put in place.

According to sources, a meeting held at CID headquarters in Bengaluru has broadly discussed the course the investigation has to take.
