Once known for its salubrious climate, Dharwad recorded the highest temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius on March 23 and 24 in the state.

As per the reports of the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) Bengaluru, Dharwad topped the list with 41.7 degrees Celsius followed by Belagavi which recorded 41.5 degrees Celsius, Karwar - 41.2 degrees Celsius, Kalaburagi - 41.1 degrees Celsius and Raichur and Haveri which recorded 40.9 degrees Celsius.

That apart, Hosapete recorded 40.4 degrees Celsius, Bidar - 40.3 degrees Celsius, while Gadag, Vijayapura and Bagalkot have recorded 40.2 degrees Celsius.

This is for the first time in the last several years, the north Karnataka districts are experiencing intense heat and sunny days.

KSNDMC said that on March 16, Dharwad had recorded 41.2 degrees Celsius. The city breached its own record with 41.7 degrees Celsius. The temperatures were recorded between March 23 (8.30 am) and March 24 (8:30 am).
