Speaking after inaugurating a seminar on Domestic Violence Act organised as part of the International Women’s Day celebration here on Friday, the judge said that women have not been receiving their due share despite service and standing in the society.

“It is a sad state of affairs that women, who were given a high status in the society are now victims of exploitation. Women can counter the oppression by acquiring knowledge through quality education.” The judge said imparting legal literacy will help women in countering the exploitation and stressed on conducting more number of legal workshops for women.

Zilla Panchayat president Vinuta Srinivas said that while women were ahead of men in all fields, the atrocities against them were continuing unabated. She felt cooperation from family members and education for the progress of women.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Krishnappa, chairman of Standing Committee on Social Justice A D Avulappa, members Ravikumar and Vani, Taluk Panchayat executive officer Dr Ashwathappa and others were present on the occasion.
