Do not indulge in unnecessary debates, Speaker tells MLAs

Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on Saturday urged the members of the Legislative Assembly not to waste time by indulging in “unnecessary debates” like the “watch controversy”.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Thimmappa said he would appeal to the legislators to focus on issues like drought and drinking water problems ailing several districts.

He also stressed on compulsory attendance by the MLAs. Ruing that the Legislature session could not be convened for all of the 60 days in 2015, Thimmappa hoped that this year, the session will be conducted for at least 60 days.

The session will be held between February 29 and March 5. He said four pending bills will be introduced in the session. JD(S) MLA K Gopalaiah will table a private member’s bill on the revival of HMT factory under ‘Make in India’ scheme   Thimmappa said that as many as 818 questions and 30 notices under Rule 351, had been received.
