The honorary degree of Doctorate in Laws to CJI Balakrishnan was announced early this year by Mysore University. However, he could not take part in the University convocation held in March 2009 to receive it. Hence, the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the Universities, conferred the doctorate on him at a function at Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
