Mangaluru: A team of doctors working at a Government Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru were able to successfully remove a piece of wood from a 12- year-old boy's chest on Sunday.
Wenlock Hospital Superintendent Dr D S Shivaprakash said that the boy from Kodagu had suffered a severe injury after a fall, which caused a wooden piece to enter his neck and get lodged in his chest.
At first, he was taken to a hospital in Madikeri and then referred to Wenlock Hospital for surgery.
A team led by Dr Suresh Pai were able to remove the massive foreign body from the chest.
The surgery was a complicated surgery as there was a huge wooden piece lodged in his chest along with a piece of chain which the boy had worn.
Dr Shivaprakash congratulated the entire CTVS team, OT staff, and anaesthesia team for their efforts in saving a young life.
