In a letter to the Prime Minister, a copy of which was released to the press here on Friday, Chief Minister Yeddyurappa said farmers in flood-hit areas had lost their crops and were not in a position to repay the loans. The Centre should extend assistance to the flood victims by waiving their loans.
He said as per the norms under CRF/NCCF flood hit farmers would get relief only between Rs 2,000 and Rs 6,000 per hectare and it was insufficient.
The Centre should take measures to double the compensation to the farmers.
