Draft Bill on stone crushers

The Karnataka High Court, last month, had directed authorities concerned to close down all stone-crushing units operating in areas of human habitation.

The Bill provides that stone crushing units should not be permitted within a radius of eight km of the municipal corporations, four km of district headquarters and two km limit of taluk headquarters. The units cannot be located within two km from national highways, temples, schools and rivers.
