Artists enacting drama titled ‘Mugiyada Payana’ on a moving bus in Shivamogga on Thursday.

Shivamogga: Theatre lovers who are used to watching plays in open-air theatres, convention halls, tents and other platforms were in for a different experience on Thursday when they watched a play on a moving bus.
As part of World Theatre Day, artists from the Association of Amateur Theatre Groups performed the play 'Mugiyada Payana' on a bus.
The first show was staged on a bus named 'Venkateswara' that left Shivamogga for Savalanga at 11:15 am. The play began as soon as the bus crossed the Abbalagere bus stand on the outskirts of Shivamogga.
Artists Rajneesh Nawada and Nikhil staged the play directed by Shivamogga Rangayana Director D Prasanna Sagar, based on the story by Shivakumar Mavali.
Despite the hustle and bustle, the 10-minute short play captivated the passengers' attention and offered a sense of chill amidst the scorching sun.
The troupe deboarded the bus at Savalanga and boarded another bus named 'Maheshwar' on its way to Shivamogga. They staged the play for the second time on this bus that left Savalanga at 12:20 noon and reached Shivamogga at 1.15 pm. After the play, the passengers enjoyed theatre songs with the troupe and applauded the novel experiment.
The play was organised as part of the World Theatre Day celebrations under the aegis of the Kannada and Culture Department, Shivamogga Rangayana, Nataka Academy, and the Association of Artists and Amateur Theatre Groups.
Shivamogga Rangayana director Prasanna D Sagar, administrator Shailaja, senior theatre artist Kantesh Kadarmandalagi, playwright Shivakumar Mavali, stage organiser R S Halaswamy, artists Lokesh Nyamathi and Vijay Kumar too traveled in the bus and watched the play.
