The arrested person has been identified as one Jayaram.

He was engaged in siphoning of diesel from the tankers engaged in transportation of the oil.

On receiving a tip, Shankaranarayana police station officials rushed to Siddapura town and found a fuel transport tanker parked in an empty space next to the service station, near a footpath off the Siddapura-Amparu main road, beside a showroom. A man named Jayarama was standing near the tanker, using a pipe and jack to transfer fuel from the tanker’s fuel tank into cans. The police raided the spot, apprehended Jayarama and questioned him, who admitted that he was stealing 20 litres of diesel from each tanker and supplying it to one Vijay from Siddapura. However, Vijay has fled from the spot.

Upon checking, a can containing approximately 20 liters of diesel was found next to the tanker. Additionally, near the northern side of the service station, the police discovered 1,020 litres of diesel, 30 litres of petrol, three pipes, and a fuel extraction lift motor, which were also seized. The accused had conspired to commit an organised crime. Several tankers move towards Chitradurga, and other places on the route. A case has been registered at Shankaranarayana Police Station under sections 303(2),112 BNS‌ and sections 3, 7 of Essential commodities act 1955 and Section 23 of Petroleum Act.
