Niveditha M, a BE (Civil) student of Global Academy in Bengaluru with a score of 89.01% bagged seven gold medals, the second highest at the 15th annual convocation of the Visvesvaraya Technological University here on Friday.
What makes her achivement remarkable is that she is daughter of a group ‘D’ employee of the state government. She has proved that financial hurdles need not hinder academic performance.
Niveditha had always been a meritorious student in school as well as junior college. She maintained it in even in her engineering course. She secured an aggregate 89.01% and bagged seven gold medals. A delighted Niveditha said she plans to join Indian Engineering Service clearing the all India exam and serve society.
She attributed her success to hard work, support and cooperation from her mother Sunanda and father Mahadev B V, a driver in Department of Pre-University Education and her college faculty. Currently, she is working as a quality control engineer with Shobha Limited, Bengaluru.
M Gayatri Prabhu, a student of GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology Women College, Mysuru, emerged the golden girl bagging the highest number of nine gold medals. Gayatri was confident of emerging among the 10 toppers in the university, but stood first. “I was expecting to be among top 10. But being at the top among all branches in the varsity is exciting” she said. “It is the happiest moment of my life,”she remarked.
Daughter of M Vinod Prabhu, a cashier in IFBI and Shoba, a house wife, Gayatri is presently working as associate software engineer in Tech Mahindra in Bengaluru. She wants to work for the next two year and later take up MTech.
Deepthi Devaraj, a student of BNM Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, the third topper, secured six gold medals. She is employed as a associate software engineer with Robert Bosch in Bengaluru and wants build a career for herself in the software industry.
