E-stamping to be available at post offices

A decision to extend the e-stamping facilities which is presently available in select banks in Bangalore, was taken at the State Cabinet meeting in Bangalore on Thursday.

Home Minister V S Acharya said Stock Holding Corporation of India (SHCI), a Central government undertaking, will provide the services. According to Revenue department officials, the facility will be first extended to 76 post-offices across the State within next two months.

E-stamping is a computer- based application by which stamp duty would be paid using electronic means. It is also a secure way to stamp documents as every e-stamp certificate will carry a unique, tamper-proof identification number.
