Bengaluru: Having drawn flak from stakeholders for the poor showing by students in the 2024 SSLC examinations, the Department of School Education and Literacy is working intently to improve the results this time around.
Commissioner for School Education Dr Trilok Chandra has been holding weekly meetings with department officials of all districts to review the measures being taken to prepare the students for the key examinations.
The department also issued a circular recently, instructing schools to conduct preparatory examinations to assess students’ preparedness for the final exams. Schools have been instructed to hold these examinations in January, and submit the results to the block education officer concerned.
Thorough analysis of the results of the preparatory examinations will help the department assess students’ readiness, and their learning levels. “Based on the results, necessary measures should be taken to improve the results in case the students’ performance is poor,” reads the circular.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) is finalising the timetable for the state-level preparatory examination. “There’s no clarity as to whether there will be a state-wide examination or an examination held locally. We are waiting for information from the Board,” said Dr Trilok Chandra, adding that authorities were being instructed regularly on measures to be taken to improve students’ performance.
