MES had recently announced that they would hold their convention opposing the legislature session as the Supreme Court was yet to give its verdict regarding the Karnataka-Maharashtra boundary dispute regarding the suit filed by Maharashtra. District Administration had not given it permission for its convention.

Anticipating that MES leaders and activists would make efforts to come to the places announced to oppose the legislature session and hold its convention, police security arrangements were made at Sambhaji Circle, Sambhaji Garden, Vaccine Depot ground and Shivaji Garden.

People proceeding towards Vaccine Depot ground in Tilakwadi were checked and later allowed as the road also houses the District Health Office, Post Office, FSSAI office and other private establishments.

Police had also placed vans at the venues to detain MES leaders and workers if arrived at the spot.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Rohan Jagadeesh informed reporters that permission for the MES convention has not been given in prohibitory orders have been clamped. Checkposts too have been fortified with more personnel along the borders with Maharashtra and entry of leaders will be prevented.
