Narasimharajapura (Chikkamagaluru): A man was killed on Thursday afternoon near Madaburu after he was attacked by a wild elephant.

The deceased has been identified as K K Elias (72) from Ekkada Bayalu village.

Elias, along with his son, had gone in search of a missing cow. Upon spotting the elephant, the son climbed a tree, but Elias was unable to escape and was trampled to death by the elephant.

Forest department officials and police conducted a site inspection.

On November 30, a person called Umesh was trampled to death by an elephant in nearby Seethur area. The deaths of two people in elephant attacks within 20 days have caused outrage among the locals.
